For many folks Pearson International airport (YYZ) will be your first port of entry into Canada. Congratulations you are now in Canada's largest city and activity hub Toronto.

Toronto, what can I say, you can find just about everything in Toronto. I think when people say they are going to Canada on a holiday they are most often referring to Toronto and the GTA. There is a lot of people traffic in this city during normal periods and in peak time it dramatically scales up.

The thing about Toronto that I like the most is just how large it is. If you are looking to get some good exercise and build your step count then you simply have to take a walk around parts of the city. I don’t think it is possible to walk around the entire city is a day so you have enough to see and do to last for a while

Things to do

These are just a tiny few things you can checkout while in Toronto:

  • Jobs (A lot of the big companies have offices here)
  • Banking, investment, financial transactions (There are a lot of banks everywhere to do business)
  • City main attractions There are packages like (the city pass Toronto) where you get a discount on tickets to visit the city's main attractions
  • Study (There are a few universities in the city) These universties take up blocks of the city because of sheer scale
  • Social activities (Dancing, Shopping, Dinning, Movies, Theatre)

Things to be aware of

The city is generally safe but there are things you should know:

  • Be careful crossing
  • You may encounter mentally disturbed persons
  • You may encounter homeless persons
  • You may encounter people selling you stuff on the streets (You may not always be interested so keep that in mind)
  • Strong winds (I faced a few of these in the winter season)
  • Lots of traffic
  • No parking
  • Crime hotspots

As you pass through the city you will be surprised at the diversity, in addition to the people, you can hear more than 10 languages being spoken by visitors and other folks alike. Variety is the spice of life and this is the beauty of God’s world.
